Newbie Escapees in North Ranch

We had only paid through Saturday night February 6 at the Horspitality RV Park in Wickenburg Arizona.  So first thing Sunday morning, we started preparing to move on.  Upon leaving the park, we went across the hiway to fiil up with gas, and ran across some of the rudest people I have ever seen in a long time! We chose to pull up behind a Ford Explorer that had already finished filling up instead of pulling in the lane closest to the building and making everyone who went in and out of the building walk around our rig.  First a couple of younger teens came out and got in the vehicle, a minute or two later an guy came out of the building and walked slowly to the vehicle, and then returned to the store. A few minutes later the guy, obviously not being able to walk normal, and a woman came out of the store, looked over at us, and proceeded to the Explorer, chit-chatting as they went.  Before getting to the vehicle, they stopped, kissed, and looked at us again.  Once they finally got to their car, he had to limp around and open the door for the lady, wait for her to get in and then shut it for her.  Then slowly walked around and got in himself.  We thought they were ready to take off, but NO!!!!  They then had too distribute the food and drinks they purchased to the back seat passengers!  Not sure what they did for the next couple of minutes, but the two adults in the front seat then high-fived before finally pulling away.  What a couple of jerks!  Good thing I have mellowed in my old age, and was not in a hurry, otherwise, I may have reacted differently!  I also have no doubt that karma will catch up to them someday.

Our plan was to check out some BLM areas south of town, but in a different area that we looked at before we settled in here in Wickenburg.  We missed our turn off, found a place to turn around, but it was pretty muddy, and I wasnt sure we were going to make it, but with a little tire spinning, we were back on the road.  I decided that I wasnt going to go up the road we had planned on taking, and risking getting stuck again, so it was back to Wickenburg, to put together another plan.

We parked in the shopping center parking lot and walked over to Safeway to get something to eat, and a couple things we were out of.  After eating some delicious sandwiches, we each got our computer to find other options for a place to stay.  One option was to go up to The North Ranch Escapees RV Park.  After checking with them, to be sure they had a place for us, and getting confirmation of their rates,we decided that is what we were going to do.

It was only a short drive up here.  Checking in was easy.  We decided to join the Escapees to get better rates on staying here, and as they have other parks, we can get a discount if we would ever stay there.  And as members of Camping World's Presidents Club, we got a $20.00 discount on our Escapees memberrship.

It didnt take us long to get set up and settled in.  The motorhome parked behind us was having a little trouble as the rain we had last night had caused the blocks under his jacks to sink in the soft ground.  He had raised his jacks, and pulled forward a few feet, but his blocks were still stuck in the mud.  All he had to dig them out was a snow shovel, so I was glad I had a sod spade with me, and was able to retrieve his leveling blocks.

Just as we were finishing, the wind changed and picked up some, and we could see a rainstorm approaching.  I grabbed the camera and headed to the roof of the motorhome to get a few pictures of the storm.

The rain missed us, and it is partly cloudy and pretty nice outside, but we are now inside watching the Super Bowl.  Looks like things are going well for Indy, at least for now.

More Later
